The Power of The Human Mind: Part 2

Ok, there’s some unfinished business from my last Blog.

Firstly, Man creates impressive designs and structures that long out-live their creator. For example, the pyramids in Egypt were built around 3000-2500 BC. That’s roughly 5000 years ago. Long before we had computers and electricity. So Man does not need computers to design and create some of the most impressive structures we have on earth. Our minds are capable of what seems like impossible tasks. We as humans can be incredible, strong, powerful and creative. It seems that computers are designed to speed things up; to take the work load of the human brain. Why? Can the human brain not cope alone? What is the need for speed and rush? It would seem the only thing we spend time on nowadays is a computer or other technology devices designed to speed things up or make things easier.

Do we need technology?

If you ask me, then no we don’t. The Egyptians managed, the people of 1066 managed, the aborigines still manage today with just a bow and arrow and a mud hut. It seems to be social ideology that if the North Sea gas runs out we’re doomed and our world will implode around us. In 1999 the entire nation held its breath for the Millennium Bug which might just take away our tills, offices, t.v’s! How would we cope without our co-op or face book or Emmerdale!? Yes, it has to be said that life would become more difficult if we lost all power on our laptops and computers and things would become slower. But who said that was a bad thing? The human race has survived for thousands of years without a QWERTY key board. Our minds are kept distracted by the current world and we need to see past this.

When you strip everything away from your life and your left there cold, naked and probably wet without a house or roof what do you still have and why?

You are left with your body, mind and absolute pureness. No distraction, no temptations or possessions. This is where people like Kenyan’s have got it right, their always happy, singing, dancing and their most worldly possession is a piece of wood and string, not a lap top or mobile phone or Nike Jacket. When was the last time you jumped for joy because it rained or because our fields are full of bountiful crops?

We are distracted from what truly matters. The earth is a gift and everything in it should be thankfully received. Our Lord is our protection and our saviour. He is the giver and the creator. And when you have nothing left to lose you will pray for His forgiveness. The Lord watches over all who love Him, but all the wicked will be destroyed, Psalm 145:20. It is worth taking the time to thank our Lord for all we have. It is worth trusting in Him.

The power of the human mind will destroy you if you rebel. The power of the human mind will only fulfil your satisfactions temporarily. The Lord offers eternal life. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever (1John 2:17)

So next time you go on face book or boil your kettle or flick on your central heating, remember they are not life essentials. Nothing is a life essential other than following a path to God and eternal life.

Apologies for the mixed messages, I’m just getting used to this! Be all and end all, don’t let your mind lead you into temptation from the distractions of every day life.
